Dancers Protest Closing of Buenos Aires Milongas

By Laura Tate 1 Comment

Dancers protest the closing of milongas in Buenos Aires by blocking the streets and dancing tango.

Milongas are under attack by the government of Buenos Aires, as they are closed for failing to submit paperwork on time, or meet other requirements. Tango dancers took to the streets to protest the closings.

Sin Rumbo, Sunderland, Parakultural and The Boot are four milongas that were recently closed.

Argentine National Deputy Maria Del Carmen Bianchi, submitted a draft resolution expressing concern about the closure of the milongas. The letter pointed out the cultural heritage of tango in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
